Bridge Creek supports the leading edge of 'intensive management' grazing practices. This program ususes an extensive pasture and fencing system which rotates grazing areas to mimic natural herd migration. This manages grass levels for optimum health of both the cattle and the land base. The fencing projects also protect sensitive wetlands, and allow safe and easy movement of cattle through established corridors. In 2001, the BC Cattleman's Association awarded Bridge Creek Estate its Environmental Stewardship Award for ongoing work in this area.
Through careful animal management, Bridge Creek has established a first-class reputation for cattle boarding. In partnership with one of the premier ranches in BC, four to five hundred head of yearling cattle are brought in to graze from May until mid-September each year. This maximizes the land productivity while eliminating winter livestock feeding.
